The west coast of Barbados offers everything you could wish for. Excellent golf courses up at Royal Westmoreland, Apes Hill and Sandy Lane, tennis at many places including Sugar Hill, sailing-with marinas at Port St Charles and Port Ferdinand and wonderful restaurants and bars. These are popular areas to buy property in Barbados. The shopping is excellent, particularly since the Lime Grove Lifestyle Centre opened in Holetown with designer brands including including Breitling, Burberry, Bulgari, Cartier, Diamonds International, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Mont Blanc, Ralph Lauren, TAG Heuer and Vilebrequin.
The south coast tends to be busier than the west and its beaches are wider. There is a lot for young people to do on the south coast where the sea is a little wavier and surfing is a popular sport. St Lawrence Gap is popular with holidaymakers and there is an abundance of bars and restaurants to enjoy. Properties on the south coast tend to be cheaper per square foot than those on the West coast and if you are investing to rent out your property then it may offer a better return on capital invested because south coast properties in the right location still rent at good rates. The east coast is far more rugged and less developed than the west and south coasts but the natural coastline is breath taking.
